Policy Officer

APS
The International Division provides policy advice and analysis to support sustainable operation of Australia's international education sector and its contribution to Australia's economy, skilled workforce and position in the region and the world. We work closely across the department, other Australian government agencies, state and territory governments, and education providers to sustainably grow our international education sector and to ensure Australia is recognised as a regional and a world leader in education and training. We provide leadership and coordination across government, delivering programs and policies to support mobility, the global exchange of knowledge and position us as partner of choice for international collaboration. With staff based in 8 countries, we also work closely with key foreign partner governments to advance Australia's economic and public diplomacy efforts. The key duties of the position include There are a range of roles available that are responsible for providing strategic policy advice including on national security issues facing the broader education sector, and/or managing and delivering projects and programs. The roles support Australia's engagement in international education to create market opportunities, ensure quality, and promote the exchange of knowledge and best practice. The Policy Officer may be responsible for: Providing strategic policy advice for presentation to the Minister or Executive that is based on research and analysis. Preparing briefing documentation and correspondence. Contributing to internal and external stakeholder relationships, including across government, with overseas governments and the sector. Representing and promoting the department's interests in stakeholder interactions. Contributing to managing and delivering projects and programs to encourage international education cooperation. Working in partnership with Department of Education Counsellors posted in priority countries.
